Addiction doesn’t care about zip codes, and it can take hold in any household, at any stage of life. If you or someone you care about is struggling with substance use, know that help is available right here in the Richmond area.
Freedom Recovery Centers (FRC) is a residential treatment center that offers compassionate, personalized care to help individuals, just like you, break free from addiction and build a healthier and happier life!
What Is Drug Rehab?
Drug rehab is a structured treatment program designed to help you safely stop using substances and develop the skills you need to maintain long-term recovery.
Rehab addresses both the physical side of addiction, such as dependence and withdrawal, and the psychological side, such as the underlying triggers, trauma, or mental health conditions that often fuel substance use.

Because no two people experience addiction the same way, effective rehab programs are tailored to the individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. At FRC, we always ensure your treatment program addresses your specific needs and addresses any underlying conditions or mental health challenges.
Signs You or a Loved One May Need Rehab
Addiction often develops gradually, which can make it difficult to recognize, especially in someone you see every day. Yet, there are a few common signs, such as:
- Withdrawing from family, friends, or activities that used to matter.
- Declining performance at work or school.
- Physical changes such as weight loss, disrupted sleep, or frequent illness.
- Mood swings, increased irritability, or noticeable personality shifts.
- Financial difficulties connected to substance use.
- Secretive behavior or unexplained absences.
- Continuing to use despite clear consequences to health, relationships, or responsibilities.
If you’re recognizing these patterns in yourself or someone you love, it may be time to get help. These signs indicate that the situation has moved beyond what willpower alone can manage, and professional support can make all the difference.
What Does Rehab Involve?
One of the biggest barriers to getting treatment is simply not knowing what to expect. So, here’s how the process generally works at FRC.
How It Works
Everything starts with a phone call.
When you reach out to FRC, our admissions team will answer your questions, walk you through a free insurance verification, and help schedule an assessment. We can even arrange transportation for you.
Then, during your assessment, our team evaluates your substance use history, physical health, and any co-occurring mental health conditions to build a treatment plan tailored specifically to you.
From there, you’ll transition into our residential program with 24/7 medical and clinical support every step of the way.
Types of Treatment
FRC offers a comprehensive range of services designed to treat the whole person. Our programs include medically supervised detox to help you safely and comfortably manage withdrawal, along with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) options.
Therapeutic services include individual counseling, group therapy, and evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care. For individuals dealing with both addiction and mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, or bipolar disorder, we provide integrated dual diagnosis treatment so both issues are addressed together. Our team understands that addiction rarely occurs in isolation.
Every treatment plan also includes life skills development, relapse prevention strategies, and aftercare planning to set you up for success long after you leave our facility. We’re here to support you every step of the way!
